Several weeks ago we pointed out the false attacks being levied by Fort Worth grow-government lobbyist Bryan Eppstein, who also does campaign work for moderate and liberal candidates. Those attacks have now led the Austin American-Statesman to call his marquee client, Sen. Jeff Wentworth, a “pants on fire” liar.
Eppstein has made a name for himself as the go-to consultant for anti-conservative Republicans like Wentworth, State Sen. Kel Seliger and State Rep. Jim Keffer.
The Eppstein lie of this campaign cycle is to charge conservatives with wanting to raise taxes. Taking the lead on this nonsensical accusation has been Jim Keffer and Vicki Truitt, a recently-defeated Tarrant County state rep. They have been telling all-out lies about candidates and organizations. Keffer had no primary opponent — this cycle — but voters ran Vicki Truitt out of office, despite (and because of) Eppstein’s vicious lies and attacks.
PolitiFact says Jeff Wentworth’s pants are on fire.
That leads to the SD25 race between failed-senator Jeff Wentworth and his conservative challenger Dr. Donna Campbell.
Wentworth has been repeating the Eppstein-created tax-hike lie about the conservative, anti-tax Campbell. The Eppstein-Wentworth machine went so far as to claim she would hike taxes 35 percent.
This was too much even for the liberal sympathizers at the Austin American-Statesman. Today’s print edition of their “PolitiFact” news feature is calling Wentworth a “pants on fire” liar.
The news report declares charges leveled against Campbell “ridiculous.”
Jeff Wentworth has long out-served his usefulness in the Texas Senate. He has used his office inappropriately in seeking other employment, and repeatedly voted against the best interests of taxpayers.
This same lie is being used by other liberal Republicans — like State Rep. Chuck Hopson (another Eppstein client), gas-tax-raiser Ken Sapp and confessed tax-hiker Ken King. Interestingly, none of them — including Wentworth — have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Finally, any Republican using Bryan Eppstein’s services should be rejected at the polls. Almost anyone would be better in public service than someone continuing to use the deceptive services of Eppstein’s ludicrous firm.
