Several Republican candidates are picking up endorsements as they campaign for the chance to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) next year.

Last week, businessman Chris Ekstrom picked up what is certainly the biggest endorsement of the cycle thus far, winning the support of Club for Growth. The influential conservative organization threw its support behind Ekstrom, calling him “a successful entrepreneur who believes in free trade and fiscal conservatism … [and] understands the policies that grow jobs and the economy for Texas families.” Ekstrom also recently picked up support from U.S. Rep. Ron Wright (R-Arlington), retiring State Rep. Jonathan Stickland (R-Bedford), Lt. Col. Wendy Rogers, Texas Right to Life, and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.

Vance Snider also recently announced a pair of endorsements, winning support from the SMART TD Transportation Union and King County Sheriff Mike McWhirter.

Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays has relied mostly on area elected officials for her endorsements. Hays recently announced endorsements from Canyon Mayor Gary Hinders, Bridgeport Mayor Randy Singleton, and the Amarillo Police Officers Association.

Texas Cattle Feeders executive Josh Winegarner has also announced several endorsements, mostly based in the agriculture industry. Winegarner has received endorsements from the Texas Farm Bureau, BEEF PAC, American Quarter Horse Association PAC, and Texas Corn PAC, among others.

This race is sure to continue heating up as voters prepare to head to the polls. This race will be decided on March 3.
