A prominent Republican lawmaker is coming under fire from citizens after endorsing embattled incumbent Kay Granger in the Republican primary.

Freshman Congressman Dan Crenshaw posted a Facebook video yesterday in which he endorsed liberal Republican Kay Granger for re-election and asked citizens in the Fort Worth-based district to vote for her in the ongoing primary election.

“I just want to deliver a message about my friend, Kay Granger,” says Crenshaw in a video posted to Facebook. “What you’re hearing about her isn’t true. She’s an amazing conservative.”

But the problem is that what voters are hearing is true.

It’s true that Kay Granger has campaigned as a “pro-choice” Republican.

It’s true that she has turned her son into the Hunter Biden of Texas with the Panther Island boondoggle.

And it’s true that she has one of the most liberal voting records in Congress, according to the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, Conservative Review, Heritage Action, and others.

It’s for those reasons that Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the Club for Growth, the True Texas Project, and so many other conservative groups have endorsed her opponent—Chris Putnam in the Republican primary.

Grassroots America: We The People, who has also endorsed Putnam in the race, had tough words for Crenshaw on those very issues.

“You might want to be careful where you step there! You just called some of the most respected grassroots leaders in Texas liars. The Texas grassroots plan to term-limit Career Kay at the ballot box. #PutnamforTexas!” the group responded on Facebook.

They weren’t the only ones calling out Crenshaw. The post currently has nearly 200 comments, the vast majority of which are conservatives criticizing Crenshaw.

“Dan, you should pay more attention to your voters and less to Republican leadership. We were so excited to watch you in the beginning. Now this is just sad,” commented Cassie Weaver.

“I won’t be voting for her. You should do your research. And I’m a Republican in her district. That voted for her last time,” comments Larry Ford.

“Your support for Kay Granger is undeserved and disappointing. But your stance on a number of crucial conservative issues has been disappointing, so let’s just chalk this up to … you’re not really a constitutional or fiscal conservative,” writes Andrea Helm.
