WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on H.R. 2740—a package of four appropriations bills including Labor, Health and Human Services and Education; Defense; State and Foreign Operations; and Energy and Water Development. After the vote, Congressman Randy Weber (R–Friendswood) released the following statement:
“The appropriations package blows the roof off budget caps by over $176 billion. It is completely unrealistic and totally irresponsible to vote for legislation that would force us back into sequestration and result in devastating cuts to our military.
“In addition to severely cutting defense priorities, this package fails to address the humanitarian and security crisis at our border and reverses long-held pro-life provisions. Worse, at nearly $1 trillion, H.R. 2740 adds nearly $2 trillion to deficit spending over 10 years.”
