Todd Bensman, senior fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, has reported that migrants encamped in Mexico City  know change is coming under President Donald Trump.

“Most everyone I interviewed in this Mexico City migrant camp told me they’re giving up, going home after Trump is inaugurated and cancels the CBP One phone app parole program,” Bensman posted on X

“Back to Venezuela. Back to Colombia. Some say they’ll settle permanently in Mexico.”

He explained that there are many large encampments of migrants living throughout Mexico City.

One young man staying in a Mexico City encampment told Bensman that there are rumors that the Biden-Harris administration will open the borders on December 18-19 to allow them into the country. Although Bensman told the young man that he did not believe that the report was true, the rumor has reportedly caused an influx of migrants towards the U.S.-Mexico border to reach it by that date.

Independent journalist Auden Cabello commented that “This could lead to many of them trying to rush the border.”

Bensman told BlazeTV that Mexico has already taken steps to comply with Trump’s border plans, even before he is in office.

“I will tell you that the administration, they’re taking a hard-line stance on certain things that Trump plans to do, but they also recognize that they don’t stand a chance economically to do economic war, trade war, with the United States, which is what they’re going to get,” stated Bensman.
