An unnamed Goliad Middle School employee has “voluntarily resigned” amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving a former student.
Goliad Independent School District released a statement on March 15 indicating that officials became aware of “concerns involving alleged misconduct” on March 6, 2026.
“Upon receiving this information, district administration immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and initiated a review consistent with district policy and applicable state reporting requirements,” the statement read.
The statement did not identify the employee but said the district’s “preliminary review” found “no evidence” that the employee had “engaged in misconduct with the individual while enrolled as a student at Goliad Middle School or prior to graduation from Goliad High School.”
Out of an abundance of caution, GISD administration reported the allegations to the Texas Education Agency and law enforcement within 24 hours after being made aware of the concern. No district communication was released because claims could not be substantiated with the information reported.
Despite the reported lack of substantiation, the employee voluntarily resigned. The district accepted the resignation on March 13.
Local parents identified the employee as an 8th grade educator who was named a 2023 Goliad ISD Teacher of the Year.
They alleged she had communicated with students via Snapchat, describing the teacher’s actions as “grooming.”
According to Goliad ISD’s statement, “While social media and anonymous postings can sometimes contribute to speculation or incomplete information, the district remains committed to addressing concerns responsibly and in accordance with the law and facts.”
Goliad ISD added that it cannot provide additional details due to personnel and student privacy issues but said the district will continue to “investigate all concerns” and is “committed to student safety.”
Hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other minors in just the past few years, and thousands have been reported to the TEA for sexual misconduct.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old male Goliad High School senior is reportedly under investigation by the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly touching female students inappropriately and looking up their skirts.
