AUSTIN, Texas—Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has endorsed Republican Pete Flores for the special election in Texas Senate District 19.

“Pete Flores is a commonsense, conservative leader that taxpayers can count on to fight for them in the Texas Senate,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan, president of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. “Texans for Fiscal Responsibility is proud to join Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, US Sen. Ted Cruz, and so many conservatives across the state in endorsing Pete Flores as he campaigns for the Texas Senate.”

A retired public servant, Flores placed first in the initial race to succeed disgraced State Sen. Carlos Uresti (D-San Antonio), who was forced to resign from office after being found guilty of a number of crimes.

Flores is facing off against Democrat Pete Gallego in a runoff election that will decide who completes Uresti’s term in the Texas Senate, which will last until 2020. Gov. Greg Abbott has declared the election will be held on September 18th, with early voting beginning on the 10th and ending on the 14th.
