U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement in Houston recently arrested two illegal aliens, including one wanted for murder.
Fredy Rufino Aguilar-Hernandez, a 38-year-old Honduran national, entered the U.S. through Atlanta in September 2018 with authorization to stay until March 2019. However, he did not leave by the specified date.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston was notified of Hernandez in January 2019. Still, he was not located and arrested by ICE until May 2024 and was ordered to be deported by an immigration judge in July.
“For more than five years, ERO Houston fugitive operations officers tirelessly pursued this foreign fugitive to eradicate any threat he might pose to public safety,” said ERO Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford.
“In May, they successfully tracked him down and safely took him into custody. As someone who knows first-hand the challenges that they face to execute our increasingly complex mission, it is humbling to watch the passion and dedication that they bring every day to their jobs. Without their unyielding commitment to uphold the integrity of our nation’s immigration system, this dangerous fugitive would still be free in the community, and his alleged victims in Honduras would be deprived of the justice they deserve,” Bradford continued.
An illegal alien from Guatemala wanted for robbery by the Guatemalan government has also been arrested and deported by ICE Houston and ERO Houston.
Marcos Rafael-Medrano was first encountered by Border Patrol in North Komelik, Arizona, near where he illegally crossed into the U.S. and was soon after released.
In June 2024, ICE Houston lodged a detainer on Medrano after being arrested and jailed for evading arrest and driving intoxicated. He was jailed for 60 days for driving while under the influence and was then transferred to the custody of ERO Houston. Upon arrival in Guatemala, he was handed over to local law enforcement.
“This foreign fugitive illegally entered the United States to evade criminal prosecution abroad,” stated Bradford.
“While he was in the country illegally and on the run from Guatemalan authorities, he continued to break the law by driving while he was intoxicated, putting the lives of innocent Texans in jeopardy. Our immigration officers work tirelessly to apprehend and remove threats to public safety like this to protect our local communities from harm and restore integrity to our nation’s immigration system.”
