On this day in 1835, the first shots of the Texas Revolution were fired in the Battle of Gonzales when Texians refused to allow the Mexican army take their cannon declaring “come and take it!”

Also, State Rep. Drew Springer and conservative activist Shelley Luther are headed to a run off after this week’s special election for the Senate District 30 seat vacated by State Sen. Pat Fallon. Luther is best known for defying Gov. Greg Abbott’s shutdown orders and reopening her salon.
