With the Trump Administration promising to “drain the swamp” and fundamentally reform the business-as-usual culture of Washington, DC, the appointment of the next Secretary of Education will show just how badly the president-elect wants to shake up the status quo.

And no name floated as a finalist for the job is better suited to reforming education than Larry Arnn, the president of Hillsdale College. As one of the few institutions of higher education that refuses to take federal money, Hillsdale truly operates independent of the strings and mandates that have ensnared modern education.

Larry Arnn

Larry Arnn

Arnn will be the keynote speaker at our 10th Anniversary gala on Dec. 3 in Irving.

Walking the campus, one finds statutes of Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Winston Churchill. Rather than assault western civilization, as is the norm in left-tilting higher education, Hillsdale revels in it.

Hillsdale has also pioneered classically-focused K-12 educational curriculum through a series of charter schools.

Arnn himself is a renowned constitutional scholar, and his “Constitution Minute” radio segments are heard on stations across the country.

Whether he is selected or not, Arnn as an individual – and Hillsdale as an institution – provide a real-world example of just how successful education can be when government gets out of the way.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to hear from the potential future Secretary of Education. Join us in Irving on December 3rd.
