After endorsing Hollywood Park Mayor Chris Fails in his primary campaign against State Rep. Lyle Larson (R–San Antonio), Gov. Greg Abbott is using his campaign resources to help push Fails across the finish line, releasing a television ad today.
The ad compares “Liberal Lyle” with “Conservative Chris”, highlighting the incumbent’s dismal record on conservative issues. Specifically, the ad focuses on Larson’s vote with Democrats against provisions to strengthen the sanctuary city bills during the last session, as well as his vote against property tax reform during the regular and special session.

This is not Abbott’s first foray into television spots for his endorsed candidates. Abbott’s campaign has so far released three ads in House District 134, where Susanna Dokupil is challenging liberal State Rep. Sarah Davis (R–West University Place). Davis earned a 33 on the most recent Fiscal Responsibility Index, performing worse than two Democrats.
Abbott’s entry into television for Fails is another example of his continued effort to put his endorsements this election cycle into action.
