Following her decision not to seek reelection earlier this month, Austin City Councilwoman Ellen Troxclair issued an endorsement for the seat in the upcoming election.
In a letter published on her website, Troxclair announced her endorsement of Frank Ward for the District 8 city council seat. “Frank Ward is a thoughtful and principled man of character who we can trust to carry on the work that we have started at City Hall to reduce property taxes, address traffic congestion, and fight for effective and efficient government. Through his service on the City’s Parks and Recreation board and extensive involvement in our community, he has shown a clear understanding of the needs in Southwest Austin and a deep commitment to the people who call it home.”
Troxclair represents Council District 8, which encompasses much of Southwest Austin. Since her election in 2014, she has spearheaded efforts on issues ranging from slashing regulations to fighting tax increases, on a city council made up largely of far-left socialists.
Upon receiving the endorsement, Ward voiced his desire to continue representing the district as Troxclair has. “I strongly believe that we need a voice of reason at City Hall, and I want to be that voice of reason.”
So far, three progressive candidates have also announced for the November 6th election: consultant Rich DePalma, lawyer Bobby Levinski, and marketing specialist Paige Ellis. The filing deadline is August 20th.
