Granbury High School senior Chris Willis is now also Granbury ISD school board trustee Chris Willis.
“I’m excited to see the great things we’re going to do here in Granbury ISD,” Willis said in a Facebook video posted on Election Night.
On his campaign website, Willis said he wanted to be a voice for GISD students:
I know what is actually going on inside the school system. I want to give a voice to the present and future students of Granbury ISD as well as look into and work with the rest of the GISD Board on our policies and how we can further improve them. I want to look at our budget and make sure OUR tax money is being spent wisely on items that will help with students’ education, as well as working to make sure that all of our GISD schools have a safe learning environment where all students have the opportunity to thrive.
Willis has been a member of the GHS Superintendent Student Advisory Committee, which is chosen by faculty and helps shape policies for the school, since his freshman year.
“Don’t dismiss people for being too young to make a difference,” he says. “Anyone at any age can make a difference.”
Willis will be sworn in later this month and is set to graduate in May 2019.
