With Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri’s resignation, the 62 members of the State Republican Executive Committee will this weekend pick his successor. While we don’t endorse in party matters, Texas Republicans interested in the GOP leadership have just a few hours to make their thoughts known.

Usually, the Texas GOP chairman is selected at the biennial party convention. Munisteri was re-elected in June, but announced in the fall he would resign prior to the conclusion of his term in 2016.

In the running for consideration by the SREC are:

  • Robin Armstrong (current Republican National Committeeman)
  • Wade Emmert (current chairman of the Dallas County GOP)
  • Tom Mechler (current Texas GOP treasurer)
  • Jared Woodfill (former chairman of the Harris County GOP)

The Texas GOP will broadcast the selection process live on Saturday. (Video link.)

You can find and contact your SREC committeeman and committeewoman from this link.
