Thomas McNutt has rolled out another high-profile endorsement in his campaign for the Texas House, this time by former Gov. Rick Perry.
Perry, who served as governor of the Lone Star State from 2000-2015, announced his endorsement this afternoon, stating:
Thomas McNutt is a principled conservative we can count on to deliver results in the Texas House. Thomas will be a leader in continuing Texas’ economic prosperity and enhancing the liberties that this state thrives on.
The endorsement by Perry, who currently serves in President Donald Trump’s cabinet as the Secretary of Energy, is the latest in a series of big conservative endorsements for McNutt, who has previously announced the support of Gov. Greg Abbott and Sen. Ted Cruz.
McNutt is facing Cody Harris in the Republican primary runoff in the race to succeed retiring State Rep. Byron Cook (R–Corsicana) in House District 8. Early voting begins May 14, with election day May 22.
