So, taxpayers, you bought $40,000 to send Houston Independent School District administrators to the rodeo. Bet you didn’t a thank you note, did you? As one might expect, the superintendent of HISD described the entertainment package “a relatively small investment.”
Tell that to the teachers and kids suffering in under-funded classrooms. With barely 50% of the education dollar going to the classroom as it is, this kind of expenditure is morally offensive.
[Texas Education Agency] initially conducted an investigation into the ticket purchases last year, but ended it because HISD’s inspector general concluded that no wrongful spending had occurred… HISD inspector general’s office wrote the TEA that it viewed the gala as “a professional development event.”
Oh, well, but, of course. The HISD employee found nothing wrong with HISD using tax dollars to send employees out for a good time. What a surprise!
A professional development event? Really? Parents and taxpayers should be outraged. This is Grade-A pork, taken, literally, from the education of children.
