House Republican Caucus Chairman Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound) is continuing to jockey for Speaker Joe Straus as he moves to impede the agenda of Gov. Greg Abbott.

In a Facebook post Thursday morning, State Representative Parker farcically stated that he is “excited to see the hard work Texas House Republicans have committed during the special session.”

This comes on the heels of the Texas House not passing a single one of Governor Abbott’s 20 legislative priorities so far (only one half of the sunset legislation), whereas the Texas Senate has passed 18 of the 20 in just a week.

Parker faced immediate backlash in the comment section of his post, where agitated constituents, and other Texans voiced displeasure with the lies that he continues to peddle on behalf of Speaker Straus and his cronies.

The response to Parker is anything unique—Republican lawmakers nationwide are facing the ire of constituents who will no longer tolerate repeated excuses and failures from the party they’ve given complete control of government. While the spotlight on him may be greater than most lawmakers, Texans across the state are fed up with House lawmakers doing absolutely nothing to advance Abbott’s agenda during the special session, and those working to obstruct the governor’s agenda.

If House Republicans don’t change their tune very soon, a sizable number of them will come to regret it when voters retire them by force in March.
