Will Gunnell, a sophomore wide receiver for the PAC-12 Arizona Wildcats, transferred to the team after a freshman year redshirting for Texas A&M University.
A graduate of St. Pius X High School in Houston, Texas, Gunnell lettered once in football and twice in basketball—impressive for his 5-foot-9, 187-pound stature. According to his college bio, as a high-school senior, he made his mark in football, totaling two touchdowns and 181 yards in six games played. Thanks in part to his efforts, the Panthers made the semifinals his senior year. His academic prowess placed him on the high school honor roll.
Gunnell is hoping to put behind him an unfortunate incident at Texas A&M in 2017 when he delivered a rude gesture to fans during a tough game against Louisiana. Gunnell later took to Twitter to apologize, saying it “was an ill-advised gesture in no way aimed at the fans.”
