Texas Tech redshirt junior guard Andrew Sorrells is drawing more than his fair share of praise for helping usher the Texas Tech Red Raiders into the position they now find themselves.

“Andrew’s role has been to be a great practice player, great teammate, elevate enthusiasm and energy,” Texas Tech coach Brian Beard recently told Lubbock Online of what Sorrells brings to the table for his NCAA Tournament Final Four Red Raiders.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard has also served as an example for his teammates in other ways, being named to the Big 12 Academic First Team during the 2017-18 season.

From North Richland Hills, Sorrells starred at Birdville High, averaging 18 points per game as a senior, on the way to being named an All-Region First-Team selection for UIL Region 1 and UIL District 6-5A Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

A business management major at Texas Tech, Sorrells was also picked up 2015 Academic All-State honors at Bergville.
