The Wharton County Junior College volleyball team had five players named to the Region XIV All-Conference teams.
Middle blocker Madison Taylor, libero Mariah Shaw, and freshman right hand hitter Shay Mitchell were selected to the All-Conference First Team, while outside hitter Alexis Nettles, and setter Makayla Lenamon were name to the conference Second Team.
“Having so many All-Conference selections is impressive,” head coach Brianna Florus told reporters. “Having three make the first team is really great for us.”
“That’s a pretty big accomplishment and the girls definitely deserve it, you have to excel and standout in every area of the game to be nominated for All-Conference honors.”
Mitchell is the lone returning player who picked up an All-Conference selection as the pioneers finished with a 17-16 overall record, after falling victim to the No. 1 seeded Tyler Valley Community College.
“Mitchell is a leader and will have to step up next year,” Florus said.
