Do-everything star recruit Taye Barber is quickly proving his worth to the TCU football program.

Through seven games, the 5-foot-9, 186-pound receiver has grabbed 16 completions for 142 yards and two scores after SportsDay reports coach Gary Patterson praised him in spring practice as a “perfect child.”

Rated as a Top 50 athlete nationally and No. 8 in Texas by 247Sports.com coming out of Cypress Springs High, Barber has provided the Horned Frogs with an element of speed on the outside unmatched by many other teams. He’s been clocked at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.

To date, his best game came in a 17-14, Week 5 win over Iowa State, when he caught four passes for 40 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown.

The Horned Frogs (3-4, 1-3 Big 12) close out the regular season with road games with Kansas, West Virginia and Baylor and play host to Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
