Golfers from Martin and Hebron high schools – both now at TCU – were among the competitors at the 2019 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Trinity King of Martin qualified for the round of 64 at the event, which was held Aug. 5-11 in West Point, Mississippi. Meanwhile, Jennie Park of Hebron competed in the stroke play portion.

Both King and Park are freshmen for the TCU golf team.

King tied for 54th in the two-round stroke play at the U.S. Amateur with a 3-over 147, which put her in the match-play round of 64. She was defeated there by Lauren Hartlage of Kentucky, 4 and 3.

Park shot 5-over 149 in stroke play and missed the cut.

At Martin, Golfweek ranked King No. 39 in the nation and No. 3 in Texas. She was a three-time winner of the Fort Worth Girls Junior Championship and made first-team all-state during her prep career.

Park was No. 29 in the country and No. 4 in the state, according to the AJGA Rolex Ranking, and placed in the top three three times at the state tournament while at Hebron.
