Former Lamar High School, Texas Longhorns and NFL standout Brian Orakpo will be inducted into UT’s Hall of Honor, the school recently announced.
As a senior for the Longhorns in 2008, Orakpo earned numerous honors including the Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s best defensive player and being a unanimous choice for the All-American first team. He was a four-year letterman and was on Texas’s 2005 national championship team. He is tied for 10th in Longhorns program history in career sacks with 22.
In the NFL, Orakpo was selected to four Pro Bowls in his 10-year career.
Orakpo was a three-year starter at Lamar and earned All-Greater Houston and all-district honors during his time there.
The 2019 Hall of Honor class’s induction banquet is set for Aug. 30 starting at 6 p.m in Austin. Tickets are available at TexasSports.com/tickets. Costs are $75 apiece or $1,000 to sponsor a table of 10 people.
