Alums from Sachse and Celina high schools are among four Longhorn soccer players named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Conference Team.
According to Texas’s website, senior forward Cyera Hintzen of Sachse and junior midfielder/forward Haley Berg of Celina were named to the squad, as were Longhorn sophomore teammates midfielder Julia Grosso and defender Emma Regan.
Hintzen was a second-team All-American the last two seasons and was the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year last season. She is in the top 10 in Texas program history in goals, assists and points.
Berg has earned multiple honors in her career as well, including being twice an All-Region and all-conference. She had six goals and three assists last season.
Hintzen was the 2016 Texas Gatorade State Player of the Year at Sachse after recording 22 goals and nine assists. Berg scored 105 goals in two high school seasons at Celina and was ranked the No. 27 prospect in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer.
