Jo Jo Ward’s first season in Hawaii proved to be quite the attraction for Rainbow Warriors football fans.
After spending his first two collegiate seasons at Tyler Junior College, the speedy wideout grabbed 51 catches for nine touchdowns and 865 yards in his first go-around with the Rainbow Warriors.
According to the school’s website, Ward’s most memorable outings came in a pair of masterful showings against Navy and UNLV, where he combined for 11 catches, 270 yards and four touchdowns.
The elusive 5-foot-9, 175-pound junior also caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime in Hawaii’s season-ending 31-30 road win over San Diego State.
As a senior at Midway High, Ward caught 103 passes for 1,619 yards and 20 touchdowns, to earn all-state first-team honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
Besides leading his team to back-to-back district titles on the gridiron, Ward also lettered for three straight seasons in basketball and track and field.
