AUSTIN, Texas—Recognizing his conservative credentials and strong grassroots support, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has announced its endorsement of Jeff Cason in his campaign for Texas House District 92.

“Jeff Cason is a strong conservative leader who will fight for taxpayers and help drain the sewer in Austin, and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility is proud to stand with so many grassroots conservatives in supporting his campaign,” said Ross Kecseg, president of TFR.

A former Bedford city councilman who fought against property tax increases while in office, Cason has been endorsed by retiring State Rep. Jonathan Stickland as his pick to replace him in the Texas House.

“Jeff Cason is a proven conservative fighter who won’t let us down,” said Stickland.

He’s also been strongly supported locally by Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn and the same grassroots army that elected and re-elected Stickland in spite of well-funded attacks by the Austin establishment.

Cason is opposed in the Republican primary by Bedford mayor and perennial tax raiser Jim Griffin, as well as veteran and business owner Taylor Gillig.

Comprised of the Metroplex’s mid-cities of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford, House District 92 is a Republican district that was heavily assaulted by Democrats in 2018. Democrats are expected to aggressively contest the seat in the November election.

Early voting begins on February 18 and runs through February 28 for the election to be concluded on Tuesday, March 3.

Texans for Fiscal Responsibility’s decision to endorse Cason in this race comes through careful review of a completed candidate questionnaire, an interview with our staff, a review of his record of activism, and feedback from district constituents.

None of Cason’s opponents submitted a candidate questionnaire.
