A Texas Tech University student was caught in a viral video mocking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. She is now no longer enrolled there.

“F*** y’all, ya homie’s dead,” the student chanted.

The confrontation occurred outside a vigil for the slain evangelist on the Texas Tech University campus. The student, Camryn Giselle Booker, is 18 years old.

According to press reports, Booker was arrested after she shoved several people, including an elderly veteran and a mother with a young child. The viral video does not show that incident.

Following Booker’s arrest and the emergence of the video, speculation emerged on social media that Texas Tech had expelled Booker.

Gov. Greg Abbott seemed to confirm such speculation when he posted “Definitely picked the wrong school to taunt the death of Charlie Kirk. Thanks Texas Tech.”

Abbott followed up a few hours later: “This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Texas Tech. FAFO.”

Cody Campbell, chairman of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents, seemed to confirm the governor’s statement with his own social media post.

“We, @TexasTech, are proud of our values and are not afraid to stand up for them. Strive for Honor Evermore!  Long Live the Matadors!!” Campbell posted.

Texas Tech confirmed to Texas Scorecard that Booker is no longer enrolled.

“Any behavior that denigrates victims of violence is reprehensible, has no place on our campus, and is not aligned with our values,” the school statement read. “Federal law prevents Texas Tech University from commenting on individual student conduct matters. We take all reported violations seriously and address them under university policy and the law.”
