Just days before the Republican Party of Texas Convention kicks off in San Antonio, RPT Chairman James Dickey announced a major milestone in his campaign for re-election: he now has been endorsed by a majority of the members of the State Republican Executive Committee, the governing body of the RPT.

32 of the body’s 62 members have pledged their support for Dickey at the upcoming convention.

In an email to his supporters last night, Dickey listed off the endorsements, which have continued to grow in recent weeks.

Cindy Asche, Dickey’s opponent in the race, has announced 14 endorsements from members of the SREC.

In a week, delegates to the state convention will have their opportunity to vote for who will lead the party for the next two years. While Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has not made an endorsement in the race, both candidates were invited to fill out a questionnaire and we have published the responses here.
