Collin County Judge Keith Self today appointed John Thomas to serve as County Commissioner for Precinct 3.

Thomas replaces Chris Hill, who resigned his seat on the court last week in order to run for County Judge. Self will not be seeking re-election in 2018.

According to Judge Self’s announcement, Thomas has over 30 years’ experience as a senior executive at Fortune 500 corporations, responsible for operations, information technology, cyber security, finance, and real estate. His strengths include creating and maintaining operational excellence.

“John Thomas is well-qualified to serve the wide-ranging policy and fiscal responsibilities of a county commissioner,” Self concluded.

Thomas is a graduate of West Point and Harvard Business School, and served as an Army Captain and Airborne Ranger.

Thomas will serve on Collin County’s Commissioners Court until a new Precinct 3 Commissioner is elected in November 2018.
