On the 187th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo, the question of staying in the American union or declaring independence is again being put up for consideration in the Texas Legislature.

State Rep. Bryan Slaton (R–Royse City) has filed House Bill 3596, which, if passed, would put to voters in the next general election the question of whether Texas will leave the union or stay.
