With early voting in the November general election just over a month away, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke is courting out-of-state left-wing celebrities and high-dollar donors for campaign donations.

On Thursday, O’Rourke is slated to hold multiple fundraising events in Los Angeles, starting with a lunch held at the home of James Costos. Filmmakers Rob Reiner and Tim Disney are also listed as hosts.

The lunch comes with a steep cost, with individual tickets starting at $2,500 just for entry.

And later this month, O’Rourke will be traveling to New York City for a fundraiser at the home of Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker. The $1,000 tickets are currently sold out, but sponsorships start at $5,000.

Gov. Greg Abbott’s team has taken aim at the out-of-state events, with communications director Mark Miner saying the Los Angeles events are “no surprise given his support for defunding the police, open borders and banning drilling are a far better sell in California than Texas.”

The fundraisers come as recent polling continues to show O’Rourke lagging behind Abbott, even in left-leaning polls.

The election will take place on November 8.
