A teacher in the Gunter Independent School District is on leave while officials investigate allegations that he engaged in improper conduct with a student.
Gunter High School teacher Andrew Moore is accused of “inappropriate comments and physical contact,” according to a March 31 memo from Superintendent Brandon Enos to Gunter ISD families.
“At Gunter ISD, the safety, security, and well-being of our students are our absolute highest priorities,” wrote Enos.
Enos said the district had “immediately launched a comprehensive and impartial investigation” to thoroughly assess the claims against Moore.
“Pending the outcome of this investigation, Mr. Moore will not be on campus,” stated Enos.
The superintendent urged anyone with information to contact the Gunter Police Department, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and/or his office.
Moore has been a chemistry teacher in the North Texas district for several years.
He received a Texas teaching certificate for science in 2018.
Over the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sexual misconduct involving students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency.
