An East Texas teacher is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct with a student.
Broaddus Independent School District issued a June 5 statement informing families of a reported “inappropriate relationship” between a teacher and a student involving grooming behavior and possible physical contact.
The district did not identify the teacher but said the suspect was “no longer employed by Broaddus ISD.”
According to the statement, district administrators immediately notified appropriate authorities after learning of the allegations on June 4 and referred the matter to law enforcement for investigation, in accordance with legal requirements and district policy.
“Broaddus ISD remains committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and all appropriate authorities throughout the investigative process,” the district stated.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority,” the district added. “Due to the ongoing investigation and privacy laws, the district will not be providing additional details at this time.”
In the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children. Thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
