Civil rights attorneys revealed they would be filing multiple lawsuits against Klein Independent School District and its staff following the arrest of a cosmetology teacher accused of trafficking students for sex.
In a press conference last week, attorneys Bakari Sellers, Harry Daniels, and Jonathan Jackson announced they would represent a new victim—identified as Jane Doe—in the ongoing Klein ISD sex trafficking case.
Klein Cain High School cosmetology teacher Kendria Grigsby was arrested in April 2024 on three counts of child trafficking and three counts of compelling prostitution of children under 18.
According to a statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the arrest, Grigsby, assisted by her son Roger McGee, is believed to have been recruiting vulnerable students from local high schools, offering them a place to stay in a hotel, and later trafficking them for sex.
Since then, additional victims have come forward, claiming that Grigsby also attempted to recruit them while they were still attending school.
Now, the three attorneys have announced plans to file a Title IX suit against Klein ISD, civil rights violations against the teacher and her son, and a lawsuit against Klein Cain High School for failing to properly address the situation and protect students.
During the press conference, the attorneys claimed that their client, Jane Doe, showed up to school with bruises on her arms, allegedly inflicted by McGee. These injuries were reportedly noticed by a teacher, who alerted the school administration.
The attorneys also emphasized the importance of the HCSO releasing the names of individuals involved in the case, citing new information.
Specifically, they mentioned a phone that allegedly contains evidence of both communications and transactions tied to the case. “The devastating portion is Jane Doe was forced to sleep with 5 to 10 men a night and make $1,000 a day for Ms. Grigsby and her son while residing with them,” the attorneys explained.
Additionally, the phone’s messages allegedly reveal a link to over 100 clients, some of whom the attorneys believe may be employees of Klein ISD in some capacity. None of these clients have been charged as of yet.
Klein ISD has denied any wrongdoing in statements to the media.
