Another Texas high school coach has been arrested for sex crimes involving an underage student.
Wesley Conner Huber, 21, was a football and powerlifting coach at Aubrey High School in the Aubrey Independent School District.
Huber was arrested Monday and charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student, both second-degree felonies punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
In Texas, sex between an adult and a child under the age of 17 is considered nonconsensual (statutory rape). Texas educators are prohibited from engaging in sex with students of any age.
Huber is also charged with possession of child pornography, specifically more than 50 images of child sexual abuse material, making the offense a first-degree felony.
Aubrey ISD Superintendent Shannon Saylor notified families that a “former district employee” had been arrested, without naming Huber.
Saylor stated that the district had placed the employee on leave “immediately upon learning about the allegations,” and that he had “submitted a resignation.”
“Our commitment to the safety and education of our students remains our highest priority,” added Saylor.
The Aubrey Police Department released a statement identifying Huber as the suspect.
According to the statement, the investigation began following a September 21 report from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services of a “possible relationship” between an Aubrey ISD educator and a student in the district.
Aubrey Police investigators worked with the Aubrey ISD Police Department to identify the suspect.
The police stated that “continuing investigation and forensic evidence obtained through search warrants confirmed the suspect as Wesley Huber,” leading to arrest warrants for the three felony charges.
Huber was arrested by the Aubrey Police Department and booked into the Denton County Jail on September 28. He was released the same day on bonds totaling $30,000, $10,000 for each charge.
Aubrey Chief of Police Richard Brooks affirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
Huber is a 2023 graduate of Aubrey High School, where he had been an all-state linebacker on the varsity football team.
He began working for Aubrey ISD as an educational aide in the 2024-25 school year.
Huber received a Texas teaching certificate as an aide in 2024, which expired in August 2026.
Over the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
The TEA’s Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard shows the agency is currently investigating more than 3,000 sexual misconduct complaints and opening an average of 250 new cases each month.
