A Texas couple is facing federal charges for producing child sexual abuse materials that featured the woman’s prepubescent daughters.

The woman, Dava Danielle Pound, has worked as an elementary school aide in two Texas school districts, although no students have been identified as victims.

According to a criminal complaint, Pound and her boyfriend Justin Liford allegedly produced child sexual abuse content—commonly known as child pornography—when they lived together in Lubbock from about August of 2022 to January of 2023.

Following tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, federal authorities traced a cloud account containing child sexual abuse materials to Liford in Lubbock.

The complaint describes multiple images and videos found in Liford’s cloud account that showed two prepubescent girls engaged in sex acts. One girl appeared to be 3-5 years old.

Authorities said the videos appeared to be produced by Liford and Pound, and the children matched images of Pound’s children at the time.

In one video the girls are in a shower with Pound and are heard referring to Pound as “mom.”

Authorities also found additional child sexual abuse images, selfies of Liford masturbating, and a photo of a woman wearing a “Dava Pound” name tag from an elementary school located in Lubbock.

Liford, 34, was arrested in Lubbock on February 11 and charged with possession of child pornography.

Pound, 29, was arrested in Williamson County on February 18 and charged with production of child pornography.

State records show Pound was certified as an educational aide in December 2021, and her certification expired in December 2023.

Pound worked as a teachers aide at Joe K Bryant Elementary in Anna Independent School District during the 2021-2022 school year.

According to Anna ISD Communications Director Karen Walker, the district’s technology department “did a thorough search through her email account and security search with no findings.”

Authorities did not name the Lubbock elementary school where Pound allegedly worked, but representatives of Lubbock ISD and Lubbock-Cooper ISD told Texas Scorecard they had no records of an employee by Pound’s name in their systems.

The complaint did not suggest that any local school children were among the victims.

Meanwhile, a former teacher from Laredo, Texas pleaded guilty this month to federal child porn charges.

Roberto Ortiz Jr., 42, was an English teacher and coach at Lyndon B. Johnson High School in United ISD when he was arrested in June 2024. Federal authorities discovered more than 3,000 files containing child sexual abuse materials on Ortiz’s computer. One image appeared to show a girl believed to be 9-11 years old being sexually assaulted.

Ortiz, who has a wife and children, faces up to 20 years in federal prison for receipt and possession of child pornography. His teaching certificate is under review by the Texas Education Agency.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers have been accused of sex crimes involving children—including possessing, producing, and distributing child sexual abuse materials.
