A special education aide and dance coach was arrested for off-campus sexual misconduct involving a 15-year-old student in the Galena Park Independent School District.

Michael Lynn Jackson Jr., 35, was arrested on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Jackson is accused of inappropriately touching the student in June, while the teen was at Jackson’s apartment, ABC13 reported.

At the time, Jackson was a special education aide at North Shore High School and also coached the teen’s step team.

The accuser and a few other step team members reportedly went to Jackson’s apartment after a sports practice and before a dance practice, which was being held in a field across the street.

Court records state that while at the apartment, the student took a shower and then lay down on a bed. Jackson then allegedly lay down next to the student, made sexual comments, and inappropriately touched the teen.

Jackson’s accuser was reportedly able to get up and text a friend for a ride, and later that evening revealed to family what happened.

Court records obtained by Fox26Houston said the teen looked to Jackson as a “mentor.”

The family reportedly confronted Jackson about the alleged incident over the phone. Jackson claimed the teen had “taken it the wrong way” and said he would call back, but the family never heard from him again.

Jackson then moved out of the apartment with a year left on his lease, leaving belongings behind, the manager told investigators.

According to Galena Park ISD, Jackson resigned in June.

Galena Park ISD was notified on Sept. 9, 2026, by the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office of the arrest of a former employee. The individual’s resignation was accepted by the District on June 27, 2026. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to comment further on this matter. The District is fully cooperating with Harris County officials.

The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority.

Jackson was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on September 9 and later released on a $65,000 bond.

Online records show Jackson worked in Galena Park ISD and Goose Creek ISD during the past decade.

Jackson has held a Texas teaching certificate as an educational aide since 2015. His certification is currently under review by the Texas Education Agency.

Hundreds of Texas school employees have been charged with sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years. Thousands have been reported to the TEA for sexual misconduct.

TEA data shows the agency is currently investigating more than 3,000 educator sexual misconduct complaints and opening an average of 250 new cases each month.
