As the Texas House continues to drag its feet on banning sexually explicit drag shows targeting children, a group called Grayson County Pride is hosting a “family-friendly” drag show in Sherman on Saturday, May 13.

Senate Bill 12 by State Sen. Bryan Hughes (R–Mineola), which would restrict sexually explicit drag performances on public property and in front of a child, has not yet received a vote in the House.

Meanwhile, groups like Grayson County Pride continue to host all-ages drag shows. The group calls their event “Pride Prom” and has previously hosted events that cater to “people of all ages.”

The group’s upcoming event will be hosted by a man named Alex Gemini, whose stage name is Whipme Soulstruck. Some of Gemini’s TikTok videos show him with an upside-down cross on his forehead.

Protect Texas Kids, a North Texas nonprofit aiming to protect young children from the left’s indoctrination, said they will be in attendance to peacefully protest the event.

“It’s very concerning that the City of Sherman has allowed their park to be reserved as a venue for a ‘kid-friendly’ drag show,” Kelly Neidert, PKT’s executive director, told Texas Scorecard. “These shows are extremely sexual and are never appropriate for children to attend. I will be there to peacefully protest with Protect Texas Kids, and I encourage others to do the same.”

SB 12, meanwhile, is set to be heard in the House State Affairs Committee on Wednesday, May 10.
