Former Keller City Councilman Armin Mizani has endorsed candidate Beckie Paquin for Place 4 on the Keller City Council.

“I am proud to offer my strong support and endorsement to Beckie Paquin for Keller City Council,” Mizani wrote on his Facebook page.

“Her prior and current dealings with municipal budgets has prepared Beckie to be a voice for Keller taxpayers from day one, and her involvement with our schools will assist as the city further collaborates with our amazing school district.”

Paquin, a former Keller Independent School District teacher and a current administrator at Westlake Academy, said on her Facebook page that she was “very proud to receive [Mizani’s] support and endorsement” and praised him for being a “champion for taxpayers” during his tenure on the council.

“As property taxes continue to spiral out of control,” Mizani continued, “Keller taxpayers need advocates at town hall who will fight to reduce our dependency on property taxes.”

According to data from the Tarrant County Appraisal District, the average property tax bill of the City of Keller increased almost 20 percent from 2013 to 2018.

In a separate post, Paquin wrote that “over the past three budgets combined the Keller City Council has increased property tax collection by nearly $1.5 million dollars as compared to previous years.”

“I will be 100 percent committed to making budget recommendations that decrease property taxes.”

Early voting begins April 22, with Election Day on May 4.
