A now-former South Texas elementary school teacher was sentenced to 60 years in prison for continuously sexually abusing several of his first-grade students while on campus.
Ryan Patrick England taught first grade at Elolf Elementary (now Elolf STEAM Academy) in Judson Independent School District near San Antonio.
England was found guilty in April of continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison.
A Bexar County jury determined that England had touched his students’ genitals during class time and after-school activities.
England was sentenced Thursday to 60 years in state prison without the possibility of parole by 379th District Court Judge Ron Rangel.
The case against England began more than five years ago when the father of an 8-year-old girl reported England to the Judson ISD police.
The girl told authorities that England put his hands in her pants several times. Afterward, he offered her snacks and told her to keep it a secret.

They also discovered the teacher had continued to abuse his young students when they moved to second grade, pulling them from an on-campus after-school program for what he claimed was tutoring.
England was charged in March 2020 with aggravated sexual assault of a child. In July 2022, he was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child.
State records show England received a Texas teaching certificate in 2014. His certification has been inactive since April 2023 and is under review by the Texas Education Agency.
England is among hundreds of Texas teachers and school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years.
