After documents revealed that the City of Fort Worth hired a diversity consultant, a media project that fact-checks claims has confirmed the city did, indeed, hire the consultant.

Fact Briefs, a media initiative that “analyze[s] the evidence behind salient unsupported claims,” confirmed the assertion made by Tarrant County GOP Chair Bo French on X citing a Fort Worth Report article.

“True – The city of Fort Worth did hire a diversity consultant. The firm will run an analysis on business and workplace demographics to inform city officials of population trends,” wrote Fact Briefs.

In June, French posted his findings to X, exposing documents showing the Fort Worth City Council expanded funding for its Diversity and Inclusion Department by $150,000 to fund a business equity study.

The documents revealed that the city hired Colette Holt—the owner of Colette Holt and Associates. Holt’s company is a consultant for “issues relating to inclusion, diversity, and affirmative action.” She is also known and dubbed “a nationally recognized expert in designing, implementing, and defending affirmative action programs.”

The City of Fort Worth previously told Texas Scorecard that “On May 14, the City Council authorized a $150,000 contract with Colette Holt, the Principal of Colette Holt and Associates, to run an updated analysis on existing availability data for both business equity firms and veteran and service-disabled veteran firms in the City’s marketplace. This research will help the City assess trends in firm availability. This study aims to optimize taxpayer funds by supporting local small businesses, particularly underutilized firms, through participation and capacity-building in City contracts.”

However, the spokesperson did not acknowledge Holt’s company as a consultant for diversity, inclusion, and affirmative action issues.

French told Texas Scorecard, he blames weak Republicans for allowing DEI efforts to infiltrate into different facets of government.

“It seems every institution today has been infiltrated by the destructive communist mindset of DEI. The City of Fort Worth is no exception. We know democrats are all for it, but I actually blame weak Republicans for allowing this cancer to fester,” explained French. “Citizens have to be made aware so we can exterminate this radical ideology.”
