A Hondo High School teacher is accused of multiple felony sex crimes against an underage student.

Thomas William Riker Hill, 24, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, sexual performance by a child, and improper relationship between educator and student.

All of the charges are second-degree felonies punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

The alleged offenses occurred on the Hondo High School campus, according to a statement from Hondo Police Chief Justin Soza.

Soza stated that Hondo Independent School District officials contacted the Hondo Police Department on October 22 regarding an allegation of misconduct involving a high school teacher.

The HPD Criminal Investigations Division obtained sufficient evidence to seek arrest warrants for Hill.

The teacher was “no longer employed by Hondo ISD before the end of the school day on October 22,” stated Soza.

Hill was arrested on October 23 and booked into the Medina County Jail.

“The Hondo Police Department remains committed to conducting thorough investigations in all cases involving allegations against individuals entrusted with the care and education of children,” Soza added. “No further information will be released to protect the privacy of the victim and the integrity of the investigation.”

State records show Hill received a certificate to teach music in March 2025.

Hill is among hundreds of Texas educators accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years. Thousands of educator sexual misconduct complaints have been reported to the Texas Education Agency since it began keeping organized records in 2021.
