The field of candidates vying to replace Montgomery County’s retiring Precinct 1 Commissioner Mike Meador in the 2020 Republican Primary has now grown to three, with John Davis’ entry into the race. Meador has announced he will not seek re-election after over two decades in office.
Davis is a native of the Houston area and has lived in Montgomery County for 20 years with his wife of 28 years, Debbie. He holds a degree from the University of Phoenix in Information Technology and Business Systems and currently manages multimillion-dollar projects.
Davis is involved with numerous philanthropic endeavors, including the Montgomery County Food Bank and Community Assistance Center. The Davises attended Magnolia Bible Church for 13 years and served in Ministry Leadership with the men, women, and youth groups. Recently having moved to Montgomery on Lake Conroe, they have been visiting Lonestar Cowboy Church and Lakeside Bible Church.
Davis cites ethics reform, budget reform, and appraisal reform as the three issues which form the cornerstone of his campaign. Davis also believes that managing the community’s explosive growth and overseeing mobility projects such as the expansion of FM 830 will be a critical component of the next commissioner’s job.
“As your county commissioner, we will work together to lower taxes by taking control of the out of control property appraisals and project spending,” said Davis. “It’s time for Montgomery County to live within their means.”
Davis joins disaster recovery nonprofit executive Billy Graff and feed store owner Robert Walker in what is expected to be a hotly contested primary. Precinct 1 is located in northern Montgomery County and includes the communities of Conroe, Willis, and Montgomery.
