UPDATED May 15.
A Katy teacher’s aide is accused of sexting a 13-year-old student then raping her multiple times at school.
Samuel Ivan Perez, 25, was arrested last week and charged with online solicitation of a minor under the age of 14, a second-degree felony.
Perez was a teacher’s aide at West Memorial Junior High School in the Katy Independent School District when the alleged crimes took place. Officials say Perez is no longer employed by the district.
Katy ISD police began investigating in November 2025, after the girl told a teacher she was sexually assaulted by Perez.
According to court documents obtained by ABC13, Perez began messaging the student via social media in the summer of 2025. They exchanged sexually explicit messages and nude photos on TikTok and Instagram.
The girl told investigators that in August and September, she and Perez had sex at least five times in a classroom at the high school.
ABC13 reported that “on one occasion, Perez forced the victim to engage in a sex act inside a classroom but stopped when he heard a teacher approaching.”
Perez was booked into the Harris County Jail on May 8. Bond was set at $75,000.
Online records show Perez began working for Katy ISD in the 2025-26 school year. His Facebook page indicates he started working for the district in August 2024.
Perez has been certified as an educational aide since 2023. His current teaching certificate is under review by the Texas Education Agency.
He also reportedly coached a soccer team for children 9 to 14 years old.
Katy ISD released a statement regarding Perez’s arrest.
In coordination with local law enforcement agencies, District police investigated allegations involving inappropriate solicitation between a staff member and a student. The District takes all allegations of this nature extremely seriously and is fully cooperating with law enforcement and relevant agencies.
Following the investigation, former staff member Samuel Perez was arrested and charged with a felony. Mr. Perez has not been present on District property for most of the current school year and is no longer employed by Katy ISD.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we are committed to responding promptly and appropriately whenever concerns arise,” the statement concluded.
In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children. Thousands have been reported to the TEA for sexual misconduct.
