A Magnolia Independent School District educator was jailed and fired following accusations that she sexually assaulted a male student.

Sheila Leticia Valdivieso, 46, was arrested Saturday and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Valdivieso worked as a paraprofessional at Bear Branch Junior High.

According to a statement from Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable Chris Jones, Valdivieso was “accused late last week of sexually assaulting a teenage student” under the age of 17 after the student made an outcry to his parents.

After investigating the allegations and interviewing witnesses, constables obtained a warrant and arrested Valdivieso at her home in The Woodlands.

Constable Jones said the investigation is ongoing and his office is continuing to work with Magnolia ISD.

“Any crime against our children will be fully investigated and followed through with until justice is served,” he added.

In a message to parents and staff, Bear Branch Principal Joshua Jacobs confirmed that Valdivieso, whom he did not identify by name, had been placed on leave during the investigation and was subsequently terminated.

State records show Valdivieso has been certified as an educational aide since August 2024.

Valdivieso was arrested May 17 and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. She has since been released on $50,000 bond.

Hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes against students and other children in just the past few years, often with multiple arrests made each week.

Thousands of cases of educator sexual misconduct have been reported to the state since the Texas Education Agency began keeping organized records.
