A North Texas elementary school teacher was jailed after being caught in an online sting trying to meet a 13-year-old for sex.

Spencer Brewer was arrested Wednesday and charged with online solicitation of a minor.

Brewer is a 4th grade math teacher at Callisburg Elementary in the Callisburg Independent School District.

He was arrested by the Collinsville Police Department and booked into the Grayson County Jail on September 9.

The teacher was identified by EDP Watch, which catches child predators online using adult decoys.

Collinsville Police stated that EDP Watch had contacted the department with evidence collected during a sting operation.

“After reviewing the evidence and statements obtained, CPD conducted its own investigation and secured an arrest warrant for Online Solicitation of a Minor. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody,” police stated.

EDP Watch posted a video of the arrest on Instagram, identifying the suspect as Spencer Brewer, a 4th-grade math teacher.

According to the video, Brewer was talking to someone he believed was a 13-year-old and also admitted to receiving child sexual abuse material of victims as young as the age of infants.

“Very disturbing things,” said the EDP Watch host.

Police indicated the suspect was a Callisburg ISD employee and said school officials were notified of his arrest.

Superintendent Chris Bradshaw released a statement Wednesday acknowledging the arrest of a district employee without naming Brewer.

Bradshaw said the employee was “immediately removed from campus and placed on administrative leave.”

“The arrest is related to conduct that occurred off campus,” stated Bradshaw. “We will cooperate fully with law enforcement and meet all reporting requirements as required by law.”

Online records show Brewer previously taught in Walnut Bend ISD (2023-25), Anna ISD (2022-23), and Bells ISD (2016-22).

Brewer has held a Texas teaching certificate for math since 2015. His certification is now under investigation by the Texas Education Agency.

Collinsville Police said the investigation into Brewer remains ongoing.

In the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the TEA for sexual misconduct.

The TEA’s Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard shows the agency is currently investigating more than 2,700 sexual misconduct complaints and opening an average of 250 new cases each month.
