A now-former Pflugerville band teacher was jailed for alleged sexual misconduct with a student.
Angel Dominguez, 21, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
Dominguez was a student teacher at Hendrickson High School in the Pflugerville Independent School District.
According to a statement released by the Pflugerville Police Department, Dominguez is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a student while working as a band technician with the Hendrickson marching band during the fall of 2025.
Pflugerville ISD told police Dominguez has not been employed with the district since the fall 2025 semester.
The statement said Pflugerville ISD referred the case to the Pflugerville Police Department in accordance with a recent Texas Attorney General opinion regarding provisions of an educator misconduct reporting law passed in 2025 as Senate Bill 571.
The AG’s opinion confirmed that school district police departments are not authorized to investigate abuse allegations involving educators and students.
Dominguez was arrested on October 20 and booked into the Travis County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives determine if there are additional victims.
Anyone with information about this case or who may have been targeted by Dominguez is encouraged to contact the Pflugerville Police Department at 512-990-6731 or CIDtips@pflugervilletx.gov.
Dominguez is listed on the state’s Do Not Hire Registry as “under investigation.” State records do not show a teaching certificate issued to Dominguez.
In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas educators have been charged with sex crimes involving students and other children.
The Texas Education Agency is currently investigating thousands of educator sexual misconduct complaints.
