A now-former Alvin Independent School District employee is facing two felony charges following accusations he engaged in “inappropriate behavior” with a student.
Chason Bailey was an educational aide who worked with special needs students at EC Mason Elementary School.
Bailey was arrested Tuesday following a grand jury indictment and charged with indecency with a child and improper relationship between educator and student.
He was booked into the Brazoria County Jail and held on a $200,000 bond.
According to the district, Bailey resigned shortly after Alvin ISD police began investigating the allegations.
The alleged misconduct occurred on April 9, but parents reportedly said they only learned about it in a Wednesday email from the district.
The District was made aware of allegations indicating that an EC Mason Elementary staff member allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with a student. Due to this incident being an active investigation with law enforcement and the Brazoria County District Attorney’s office, we are just now able to share this information with our EC Mason family.
Bailey’s teaching certificate shows he is under investigation by the Texas Education Agency.
Bailey is the fifth teacher accused of sex crimes involving students that Texas Scorecard has covered this week.
Krum ISD: Band director Carol Turner was arrested and charged with 11 felony counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact and two counts of sexual assault of a child over allegations dating back to the 1990s.
