Screenshots of social media posts from the accounts of David Greene, a Katy Independent School District school board candidate, express support for the LGBT ideology, with one being sexually explicit.
Texas Scorecard contacted the Greene campaign after obtaining these screenshots. In a written statement, Greene did not deny that these posts are his.
A post dated August 11 from his Facebook account shared an image that lists 11 statements regarding sex. Among these are “masturbation is healthy,” “sex work is work,” “pronouns are valid,” and “sex education is important.”
In an October 2023 post from his Instagram account, Greene wrote about a boy who became the marshal of “Orlando Pride.” He wrote “Trans girl is youngest ever…’living her best life.’”
More posts continue this trend.
Another October 2023 post is a picture of a drag queen, with Greene commenting, “Tennessee Republicans keep losing court battles with drag queens.”
A July 2024 post from his Instagram account is an image of two military men, with the caption “Parents: Boys don’t play with dolls they play with army soldiers[;] Me 15 years later.” A post from December 2025 is of a one-panel comic image, where a woman is putting her top over her man’s head, with him commenting, “Wait! The Bible says I shouldn’t wear women’s clothing.”
Greene commented, “Purity culture sucks…religion tries to interfere with our sexual lives.”
Greene identifies himself as a “spiritual leader” on his X account, and on both there and his Facebook account he identifies as “Rev. Lion David Greene.” He has written that he is an “associate minister at a local church,” and has “deep roots” in “inclusive community leadership.”
“Like many people, I have shared a range of content on social media over time, going back more than a decade, including humor and commentary on current events. Those posts are not policy positions, and they are not related to the responsibilities of a Katy ISD trustee,” Greene wrote in a statement to Texas Scorecard. “Voters deserve clarity about what this role actually is. A school board trustee is responsible for governance. That includes setting policy, adopting a responsible budget, and holding the superintendent accountable for student outcomes. It does not include regulating personal expression or revisiting years of social media content.”
He also wrote in his statement that schools should be law-abiding, focus on student outcomes, and that “no one else should get to parent someone else’s child,” stating that Katy ISD parents have “full visibility” into what the district is teaching, and “where permitted” may remove their child from certain lessons.
Katy ISD’s board election is set for May 2, 2026, with early voting from April 20-28. Three seats on the school board are on the ballot, with Greene running for position four.
