Dallas city council members are facing a $190 million deficit, and much hand-wringing is going on about which services to cut. One expense that should, but won’t, be touched is the half-million in taxpayer dollars being used to lobby for more taxes and fewer limits on government.

So far the city council hasn’t threatened to let rapists roam the street or houses burn down, but they are threatening the furry animals at the zoo, according to WFAA TV.

The Texas Ethics Commission website reveals City of Dallas taxpayers are footing the bill for upwards of $500,000 in lobbying expenses in 2009 alone!

All so that fat-cat lawyers and lobbyists, like former State Rep. Fred Hill of Richard, can work to make it tax relief impossible and higher taxes a reality. (Hill is pulling down $25,000 to $50,000 from the taxpayers of Dallas County for five months of pillaging the taxpayers.)

Other lobbyists working on the taxpayers’ dime to rob the taxpayers blind include:
-> Julianne Acevedo of Austin
-> Brandon Aghamalian of Austin
-> Randy Cain of Austin
-> Snapper Carr of Austin
-> Jay Howard of Austin
-> Neal “Buddy” Jones of Austin
-> Dan Pearson of Austin
-> Susan Rocha of San Antonio
-> Jesse Romero of San Antonio
-> Jeffery Anthony Saitas of Austin
-> Terri Seales of Austin
